Stockholmsrummet

In 2015, we were commissioned by Utsikt Kommunikation to help establish a new initiative at Kulturhuset in Stockholm. The 3D model of Stockholm on the ground floor of Kulturhuset was to be moved one floor down to a new space filled with an interactive exhibition about how, where and why Stockholm is growing – Stockholmsrummet.

In close collaboration with designer Simon Gate, we developed a solution where the model of Stockholm was submerged beneath a glass floor, allowing guests to explore the city from above at their own pace. The glass floor had built-in lighting that could illuminate specific parts of the city and simulate the movement of daylight across the city over the course of a day.

Where the physical model and glass floor ended, Stockholm continued as a floor vinyl wrap covering the rest of the room. On the walls, various exhibitions were built that could be gradually replaced as Stockholm develops.

Stockholmsrummet has continued to develop, and over the years we have supplemented it with an entrance portal entirely in LED and several new wall installations.

Our delivery

For this project we delivered:
  • Sound

A speaker system, wireless microphones and audio mixing for the presentation area in the room. Read more about sound
  • Light

Lighting for the entire room and LED installations in the glass floor that could illuminate different city districts and simulate the movement of daylight across Stockholm over the course of a day. Read more about light
  • Video & LED

A large number of screens for the room's installations and an advanced media control system handling video, audio and lighting simultaneously. With the press of a button, guests could trigger a sequence telling the story of the city with synchronised visuals, sound and lighting. Read more about video & led
  • Carpentry

The glass floor solution was produced and all wall installations around the entire Stockholmsrummet were built by the carpentry team. Read more about carpentry
  • Print

An extensive floor vinyl wrap continuing from the 3D model and glass floor out across the rest of the room. In addition, cut-out logos in various materials and vinyl wrapping of the display window outside Stockholmsrummet. Read more about print
  • Project Management

Delivery and installation were coordinated by project manager Andreas Bonnevier. Read more about project management
